Redefining San Francisco Living Through Views, Location, and Design

Published May 4, 2026

The Residences at Yerba Buena Island offer a balanced way of living in one of San Francisco’s most distinctive settings. Homes are defined by space, nature, and expansive views, set within a location that feels removed yet directly connected to the city. Positioned at the center of San Francisco Bay, the island brings together a rare duality: a natural enclave just eight minutes by ferry from downtown San Francisco, surrounded by 72 acres of parks, trails, and open green spaces.

Architecture shapes this unusual experience from within. Designed by Hart Howerton, with Edmonds + Lee Architects and interiors by Meyer Davis, the residences celebrate a tangible relationship between structure and landscape. Floor-to-ceiling windows capture natural light and uninterrupted views, while elevated ceiling heights create a sense of volume without excess. Materials remain grounded and natural, allowing the setting to shine, while interiors provide quiet refinement.

The Bristol Condominiums

At The Bristol, this design approach is expressed through a collection of waterfront condominiums centered on proportion and livability. Kitchens are precisely executed, with custom cabinetry, integrated appliances, and substantial stone surfaces. Layouts emphasize flow, with central islands that function as both workspace and gathering point.

Shared spaces extend this sensibility. A south-facing garden courtyard brings in consistent light, while the rooftop terrace opens to uninterrupted Bay views. Amenities – including a fitness studio, children’s playroom, and open-air lobby lounge – are integrated with intention. The Bristol reflects a considered approach to condominium living, where materials, scale, and outdoor access work in precise balance.

The Row Homes

The Row Homes offer a more expansive architectural perspective, influenced by the island’s topography. These multi-level residences follow the natural contours of the hillside, creating a progression of space across each level. Kitchens anchor the main living areas, opening into dining and living rooms for continuity. Finishes emphasize craftsmanship with bespoke millwork, generous stone surfaces, and tailored detailing. Many homes extend onto private terraces, where interiors connect directly to open views.

The concept of a modern hillside village is evident throughout. Select residences include private elevators and attached garages, while rooftop decks provide elevated vantage points across the Bay. Rather than a single focal view, each home reveals a sequence of perspectives that shift with movement through the space.

The Flats

For those drawn to single-level living, The Flats offer a more singular experience. Set within a boutique building of seven residences, these estate-sized homes range from approximately 2,500 to 4,000 square feet and are accessed by private elevators that open directly into each residence. Interiors are defined by modern finishes and expansive windows, with generous private terraces that draw the Bay landscape into everyday life.

Beyond the homes, the island becomes part of daily living. Trails connect parks, open space, and shoreline, shaping routines that move fluidly between hillside, water, and skyline views. This proximity fosters a more grounded pace, while the city remains close at hand. The Treasure Island ferry provides direct access to the Ferry Building, connecting residents seamlessly to San Francisco’s cultural and culinary nucleus.Yerba Buena Island reframes San Francisco living through its setting, design, and perspective. It offers more space, more clarity, and a closer connection to what matters, yet with the city always within easy reach.
