Yerba Buena Island is capturing the spotlight across the Bay Area with the grand opening of its newest addition: Panorama Park. San Francisco Mayor London Breed recently led the park’s unveiling, expressing: “Anyone who looks in any direction will witness the natural beauty of the San Francisco Bay Area, our impressive San Francisco skyline, and iconic sites such as the Golden Gate and Bay bridges. The opening of this park builds on our efforts to deliver amazing public spaces for all to enjoy.”
Designed by the renowned San Francisco-based landscape architect Walter Hood of Hood Design Studio, Panorama Park offers an expansive space that welcomes visitors to indulge in panoramic views – hence the name – that stretch as far as the eye can see. “It’s the only place in the city where you can get a 360-degree view where every direction you look is beautiful and architecturally interesting,” Mark Hartmann, Resident at The Bristol, noted.
An essential element of Yerba Buena Island’s green space, Panorama Park connects people with nature, history, and each other. At its pinnacle stands the awe-inspiring “Point of Infinity” statue, a 69-foot steel masterpiece by Hiroshi Sugimoto, anchoring the new Treasure Island Arts Program. The art piece functions as a sundial, and Sugimoto described it as “beyond expectation” as he explained its concept to The New York Times: “The infinity point, where two curved lines are supposed to meet, only exists in the human mind; it’s a creation of human consciousness.”
Mayor Breed emphasized the significance of this new addition: “San Francisco is home to the best parks and open spaces in the world and Panorama Park, with its spectacular views and world-class art installation, is a clear indication that the transformation of Treasure Island and Yerba Buena Island is well underway.”
Perched on the westernmost peak of Yerba Buena Island, Panorama Park offers visitors an unrivaled, unobstructed view of iconic sites like Alcatraz. “Standing here with views that are the envy of the world allows us to dream and to see dreams of a new neighborhood coming true,” said Supervisor Matt Dorsey, whose district includes Treasure Island. Mark Hartmann succinctly praised the park, saying, “[Panorama Park] is hands-down the best view in the city.”
At Panorama Park, every corner offers a new visual experience, making it a must-visit destination for anyone seeking to see the beauty and serenity of Yerba Buena Island.
Here, amidst the gentle Bay breezes, visitors can find solace in nature while soaking in the breathtaking scenery. Although, the incredible views don’t stop at Panorama Park. Yerba Buena Island is home to a fast-growing residential community, featuring luxury bayfront Condominiums, Row Homes, and soon-to-be-released Flats, each with incredible vistas of the Bay and beyond.
Imagine experiencing these views every day. Tim Slattery, the visionary architect behind The Bristol, Row Homes, and The Flats (coming soon), captures the essence of living on Yerba Buena Island: “At the end of every day, you think, ‘Okay, time to watch the sunset.’ There’s no better spot for it than Yerba Buena Island. It’s like living in a painting.”
